The Book, Bracelet and First Charm

Finally getting this posted. This is the book and bracelet for the Oz swap. I'm afraid I had to go very simple on the book. It's a red glitter notebook I've had since the eighties--just lined paper inside. The ruby slipper artwork is from Etsy. The bracelet is one of Queen Xina's.


This is what I wrote for the charm:

Let me start with a sigil or cipher for Oz, based on the work of illustrator John. R. Neill, and the map of Oz.  East and West are reversed, but you will find purple wire for Gilliken Country in the North, yellow for West and the Winkies, blue for East and the Munchkins, and red for Quadling Country to the South. In the center, of course, the green crystal is for the Emerald City.

 

 I rather liked the way the charm turned out. Working with coiled wire in this way can be a bit of a challenge (components like to go springing into space like flying monkeys :) but I like the steampunk feel of it. I think Baum's world lends itself nicely to that interpretation.
